Sugar Hollow Road

Rivanna.org

About 15 miles northwest of Charlottesville, this beautiful paved road leads to the Sugar Hollow Reservoir and dam, the scenic doorway to the Ragged Mountain Natural Area. Starting from White Hall, the road runs along the Moorman’s River for 4.5 miles before arriving at the dam, where the tread changes to dirt. Trails (connecting to the Appalachian Trail) continue out from the dam in every direction, but as an out and back, the road itself is a solid 10 mile route.
