Huay Tung Tao Lake And Running Track

Ang Kaew Reservoir Running Track. Google Street View

Huay Tung Tao Lake is the best place for a nearby destination run in Chiang Mai. Located ~12 km north of the city, the man-made lake is a popular spot for running, walking, and cycling. There are couple of running options here. A loop around the lake on the very runnable perimeter road is 3.5 km. There are good water views, a festive atmosphere, and numerous eateries and gathering spots.

Combine this with the adajcent running track, which is a paved multi-use path adjacent to the road that does a little loop and then heads east from the lake to Khuang Phra Chao Lanna at Canal Road/Highway 121. The track is a ~3.5 km, so combining the track and lake is a 9.4 km route with some elevation.

Add-Ons: Can run on the 5 km cycle track, a paved multi-use path that runs alongside Canal Road/Highway 121 from a ‘bike bridge’ just north of the running track terminus, south to the Chiang Mai International Conference Center.
