Cycle Track Along Canal Rd. & 700-year Stadium & Sports Complex

Google Street View

A new cycle track in the Huay Tueng Thao Lake area is a nice addition to the Chiang Mai running scene. The paved multi-use path runs along the Canal Road/Highway 21 for 5 km between a ‘bike bridge’ and the Chiang Mai International Conference Center. It’s the longest continuous easy off-road running opportunity in the Chiang Mai area. In sections, there are separate paths for runners and cyclists.

Along the way, add with a loop around the 700-year Stadium & Sports Complex. It’s a large open square with grounds for running and a good running track. Well lit and popular with runners at night.

Longer Run: The cycle path intersects with the Huai Tung Tao running track that goes for 3 km between Khuang Phra Chao Lanna off Canal Rd. to the Huay Tueng Thao Reservoir. At the Reservoir, there’s a 3.5 perimeter loop around the lake. Combine the cycle track, running track, and lake loop for a 20 km run!
