Nashwaak Trail

Creative Commons

The Nashwaak Trail is another nice opportunity for an off-road run in central Fredericton. The paved multi-use path runs north for 6.5 km from the Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge. Overall, it’s a combination of open & wooded terrain. The northern half follows the Nashwaak River, featuring some nice water views.

Loop Option. For a loop option (it’s 3 km longer), take the Nashwaak Trail out and then use the gravel-surfaced Gibson Trail on the east bank of the river. There’s ~2 km section along River St.

Add-Ons: At the northern end of the Nashwaak Trail, the more rugged NB Trail continues north, paralleling River St. At the southern end of the Nashwaak Trail at Thorpe Bridge, you can join the N Riverfront Trail or the Northside Trail.

Essentials
  • Up to 6.5 km (4 miles) one-way; Loop option is 16.6 km (10.3 miles)
  • Fairly flat. Full loop has a 100m gain
  • South end: Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge
  • Good access from downtown. See Fredericton trail map for other access points & parking
