Fredericton is the third-largest city in New Brunswick and is the province’s capital. Situated on the St. John River, Fredericton has a metro area population of 100,000. The 120 km of multi-use trails — all near the city center — make for some excellent options running in Fredericton, especially for a relatively small city. This trail map is a helpful resource.

One of the best places to run in Fredericton are the Riverfront trails on the north and south banks of the St John River. These can be combined with other nearby trails: Northside Trail & Nashwaak Trail on the north side of the river; and the Valley/Crosstown/Lincoln trails on the south side. There are trail running options for all abilities in Odell Park & Killarney Lake Park.

Runners should note that Fredericton winters are long and cold, with lots of snow. This map shows which trails are maintained in winter.
