Features:
Three paved multi-use trails on the southern side of the St John River can be combined for more than 21 km of off-road running! The three trails are contiguous, and form Fredericton’s section of the Trans Canada Trail. The nicest sections are the westernmost 5 km of the Valley Trail and easternmost 3 km of the Lincoln Trail.
Valley Trail. This is the westernmost of the three trails, and runs from Smythe St. near Odell Park for 10.7 km west. The first 3 km are a bit industrial and interior, paralleling Woodstock Rd. Then, just past the Fredericton Golf Club, the Valley Trail becomes a stone dust surface and runs along the south bank of the St John River for ~5 km, featuring some nice water views.
Crosstown Trail. This 1.8 km paved trail runs through the center of town and connects the Valley & Lincoln Trails between Smythe St. & Windsor St. About 1/3 of the trail is on-road, using Argyle St.
Lincoln Trail. This trail runs for 8 km from Windsor St./Queen’s Park west to Vanier Industrial Dr. in Lincoln. The easternmost 2 km is paved & interior, skirting the south edge of the University of New Brunswick. The trail then parallels Lincoln Rd. The easternmost 3 km (gravel surface) is the most scenic, running along the St John River, with some nice water views.
- Valley: 10.7 km; Crosstown: 1.8 km; Lincoln: 8.8 km
- Some gentle rolling hill sections
