The cycle/pedestrian paths along the river Göta Älv are the top choice when it comes to running in Gothenburg, and a great way to get across the city without leaving the waterside. The main riverside path, which is paved but has some cobblestoned sections, starts out in Rosenlund on the west side of the canal. It continues on 2.4 km (1.5 miles) until reaching Lila Bommens area, where it connects with a number of other paths that carry on throughout the city. At the eastern end, you’ll see the Göteborgsoperan (Opera House), the “Lipstick” skyscraper, and the city’s conference center.

For a longer run or variety, loop back using our Kungsparken (major park) route (take Gullbergs Strandgata ), or amble into the central, older part of Gothenburg and enjoy the narrow, compact streets.
