Features:
The White Oak Bayou Trail is another lengthy off-road trail forming a greenway along one of Houston’s bayous. It starts at the University of Houston Downtown — where it now connects to the eastern end of the Buffalo Bayou Trail, and winds northwest for 15 miles to West Little Oak Park. The paved trail passes through several parks: Woodland, Stude, TC Jester, Watonga Parkway, and also through the historic Heights and Woodland Heights communities. Much of the trail is pleasant and green, though there are a few less scenic, industrial sections. Work continues to improve the trail. There’s good waymarking along the trail, directing users to nearby landmarks. Some distances, from the downtown trailhead, heading northwest (mi/km):
Stude Park (Woodland Heights area): 2 miles
Heights Neighborhood (north of path): ~4 miles
Bluebonnet Meadow: 6 miles
TC Jester Park: 8-9 miles
Watonga Parkway Park: 10 miles
- Downtown: Univ. of Houston Downtown, or other points
- For downtown start, UHD Light Rail station
