This is another nice route in central Kamloops, combining a section of the Rivers Trail with a loop around McArthur Island — an island park with a 3 km loop path around its perimeter.
You can do just the island, using a combination of path & sidewalk along Island Pkwy. It’s a 3 km loop, with some additional roads/paths around playing fields. There’s a washroom at the Soccer Field House at the island’s south end.
To make this a longer run, it’s 2.5 km to the island from the Overlands Bridge. The first 1.6 km to Royal Park is on road, using Royal Ave. Then pick up a path to Mackenzie Ave., which leads to the island.
