Google Street View

This is a fun route combining the northern Grand River section of the Lansing River Trail with a downtown spur to the Capitol area, featuring numerous important buildings and landmarks. Choose a section or do the whole ~7.5 mile route!

Lansing Riverfront Trail. The northern section of the Lansing River Trail runs for 2.6 miles between River Point Park (just south of I-496) and Dietrich Park. You can also pick up the trail downtown, off E Michigan Ave. or other access points. The paved multi-use path runs along the east side of the Grand River, through numerous parks, including the scenic Adado Riverfront Park, which has additional boardwalks and paths, leading to some historic sites. The northern end is at Dietrich Park.

Capitol Spur. From the Lansing Trail, take Michigan Ave. west toward the Capitol. There are great views of the Capitol building as you approach it. Enjoy the paths in & around the Capitol, extending to MLK Blvd. Sites include the Michigan Hall of Justice, Michigan Library, & Michigan History Center. This spur is 2.3 miles out & back.
