This 65-hectare sports park, conveniently located on the northern border of the Oaxaca International Airport, is one of the largest and most accessible parks in the city. The forest here is beloved for its tree lined paths which boast over 7,500 arboreal species. There is a lovely dirt path encircling the green space, where runners can log a circuit of about 5.4 km. It’s a great spot for a flat run in otherwise mountainous Oaxaca — the max altitude is only about 20 meters. Runners can visit the park anytime between 6 am and 6 pm, the shade from the trees is a good way to beat the usual heat. There are frequent races and training runs held in the park, so if you’re interested in running with company, check the local clubs for updates.

The free facilities at Polideportivo Venustiano Carranza, a few blocks east of downtown, include a 1 km trail around the complex (with paved and dirt options) and a 400 meter rubberized track.
This park in downtown Oaxaca is small, but there is a 700 meter circuit on stone paved paths, and plenty of vendors and people-watching to keep things interesting. Connect to other downtown attractions on nice nearby sidewalks.
Run the banks of the Rio Atoyac on this short but tranquil dirt path close to the center of Oaxaca. Loop and out and back options of about 4 km.
A tranquil (but secluded) escape from downtown Oaxaca, this abandoned freeway is closed to traffic and popular for scenic long, distance runs in the Oaxacan hills. NOTE: Signs warn to not to bring valuables and to travel with a friend.
A challenging run with fantastic views over the city, Cerro del Fortin is a popular local exercise spot complete with stairs, hill climbs, and quiet trails.
