If you’re visiting Omaha for a weekend, take a 1/2 hour drive to the South Bend, Indiana area, just southwest of the city. There are several great running options here. Favorites:
- MoPac Trail, a 15-mile unpaved path that stretches from the extreme south of Omaha, through Springfield, and to South Bend. The wide crushed stone way is a great run at any point, but is especially fun in the south where it nears the Platte River.
- Platte River State Park, a favorite among trail runners.
- Schramm Park State Recreation Area, a network of trails on the north side of the Platte.
