A tour of the extensive Botanical Gardens grounds is one of the most popular spots for a run in Penang. The Gardens, dating back to 1884, are located 8 km west of George Town. They’re beautifully landscaped, with paved paths passing by a huge variety of species. A loop around the perimeter is about 2.5 km — note it’s hilly! Hours are 05:00 – 20:00, though some paths have more limited hours.
Add-Ons: City Park/Youth Park, is 1 km away, using Penang Hill is also an option, though it is extremely hilly and steep, rising some 450m over only 2 km! Access from the Gardens, Moongate or City Park.
Essentials
- Loop around the perimeter is 2.5 km; Add On with City Park/Youth Park, 1 km away
- 84m (278 feet) for Perimeter Loop
- Garden entrance
- Bus Route 10 from Georgetown
