East Portland: Parks & Residential Streets

In east Portland, there’s some pleasant running combining attractive residential streets with some nice parks. This is an area to create your own route. We suggest a good starting point is the area around Ladd’s Addition, a historic district and one of the oldest planned developments in the western United States. The residential streets around there are pleasant for running. We suggest making your way east to Mt. Tabor Park (~2 miles). Mt. Tabor Park is an attractive forested park covering an extinct volcano with ~3 miles of paths, including some small hills and reservoirs.

Another nice section is the northern part of East Portland, near Laurelhurst Park. Enjoy the trails of this small park, then head south on some of the nice streets south of E Stark St., including Peacock Ln., which is famous for holiday lights!

One can combine all of this, or do a nice run between Laurelhurst Park and Mt. Tabor Park, enjoying tree-lined residential streets with attractive homes.
