This scenic ‘runseeing’ tour hits the highlights of Rijeka: the long pier (molo longo), old town, Korzo promenade, and a couple of small parks. There’s an optional hilly add-on with a jaunt to the Trsat Castle, using the Trsat Steps.
Start at the Rječina river, and run along the riverside path toward the water. Enjoy the great views of the 1.7 km Molo Longo (long pier), passing the Rijeka Cranes. Retrace your steps, and then take the Korzo, a main pedestrian-only street in Rijeka’s old town, passing by numerous Hapsburg-era buildings. Then, RIGHT on Ul. Erazma Barčića, heading uphill and for a jaunt around the small Park Nikole Hosta & Park Vladimira Nazora. You’ll pass the elephant mural and the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Coast. Complete the loop using Ul. Žrtava fašizma, passing the Cathedral of St. Vitus.
Longer Option: A hill challenge! From the Rječina river start point, take the Trsat Steps (561 steps) and then the road & path leading to the Trsat Castle. A restored castle with great views of Rikeka old town & the water.
Add-Ons: Explore the maze-like, narrow street of Old Town. Best to do this early!
