Wadi Hanifah Path

Peter Dowley

Wadi Hanifah is a scenic valley that extends for 120 kilometers. The section passing north-south through Riyadh features a long dirt pathway along the Wadi Hanifa waterway and great desert scenery. The north end of the path is just west of the Diplomatic Quarter area and features Wadi Hanifah Park. There is a nice groomed network of trails here, winding through the desert for a “lollipop” loop of 8 km.

Longer Run: For those who want to extend their route, continue south along the palm-lined sidewalk of Wadi Hanifah Road – there are intermittent dirt paths along the water. It’s 6 km to Sultanah, which features a nice brick promenade (near Wadi Park). Further south, there’s some nice running at Stone Dam Park, including a 210 step staircase!
