Hellbrunner Allee and Hellburn Palace

This is a gorgeous, pastoral run out to the 17th century (Schloss Hellburn), famous for its pleasure gardens with grottos, novelty fountains & a theater. To approach the palace, you’ll run for 4 km along the Hellbrunner Allee, a paved and gravel pedestrian path, passing farms and interesting buildings.

Hellbrunner Allee

Start your run at the sports complex near the Public Library. The first section is on a path passing the Schloss Freisaal, and a quick jaunt through the Botanical Garden. After ~1.5 km, just south of the Garden, join the bucolic, tree-lined Hellbrunner Allee, a path that will lead 2.5 km to Hellburn Palace. There are farms, grounds, and beautiful buildings along here. We’ve mapped the route so you can enjoy a spectacular approach to the Palace, then enjoying a 1.5 km loop of the spectacular grounds and the Sound of Music Pavillion. For the return, retrace your steps along Hellbrunner Allee.

Add-On: For a nice ~3 km add-on, run the perimeter paths around the adjacent Schlosspark Hellbrunn, which contains a zoo in its interior. Closer to the start is the section of our Mönchsberg route, passing by the Fortress.
