Strasbourg, France

The Strasbourg ‘Quais’

This is a straightforward, ‘square’ loop of some of Strasbourg’s ‘Quais’, which are paths along the canals and the Bassin des Ramparts. The paths skirt the perimeter of the Parc de l’Orangerie and other parks and gardens.

Start at Avenue de l’Europe, right across from the European Court. Run south for 2km along the Quai du Bassin de l’Ill/Rouget-de-Lisle. Just past the Musée Adolf-Michaelis, turn LEFT on Boulvard de la Victoire, where a pedestrian path parallels the train tracks, running by the Minerology and Zoology museums, passing the outskirts of the Botanical Garden. At Rue Tarade, turn RIGHT, which will lead to the path along the Bassin des Ramparts, and run north along the path for just over 1 km. The final 1.5 km turns LEFT onto the Quai de l’Orangerie, skirting the edge of the Parc de l’Orangerie.

Add-Ons: paths within the Parc de l’Orangerie and the Botanical Garden (see separate route).
