This scenic, 5-mile run in the Sidi Bou Said section of Tunis includes a waterfront path, heart-thumping stairs, a palace, and a lovely park! You’ll enjoy many highlights in this neighborhood on a promontory overlooking the Mediterranean, with itscobbled streets, blue and white houses.

The route starts at the car park at the Port of Said (can also start in the upper part of the neighborhood at the train or subway station. Run for 1 km along the waterfront promenade (Corniche Sidi Bou Said), featuring great views of the sea, and then do a jaunt around the marina. Retrace your steps, and then use the famous 365 Steps to reach the upper part of the neighborhood. Then, LEFT on Rue Habib Thameur, which passes by the area of the public garden (optional detour to Ennejma Ezzahra Palace, using Rue du 2 Mars 1934). Then, RIGHT on Av. 14 Janvier — busy, but decent sidewalk — for 1 km to the Parc de Sidi Bou Saïd, which is one of Tunis’ best parks for running. One can do 1-1.5 km around the park. Retrace your steps to the start!

Add-Ons/Alternatives: Paths around the Palace. Also, as an alternative to the 365 Steps, you can also run up the hill on Av. de l’Environment, which has great views. Note: the sidewalk is narrow and uneven.

Longer Run: You can connect to Carthage Sites route (~2-3 km away), using either Rue de Maroc or Rte Roosvelt/Avenue de la République, passing the North Africa American Cemetery.
