Petone Beach Esplanade

For an easy, flat run with nice beach, water, and mountai views, we recommend the section of the Great Harbour Way path along the Petone Beach Esplanade. Petone is a suburb on the northern shore of Wellington Harbour, at the southern end of the Hutt Valley.

The gravel path runs along “The Esplanade”, and runs for 3.7 km between Honiana Te Puni Reserve next to the Wellington Carnival, east to McEwan Park. Be sure to take a jaunt down Petone Wharf! Nice water & mountain views the whole way.

Note: Petone Beach is fairly narrow and not great for running.
