Trail Running – Easy to Moderate Options

There are 165 miles of trails and roads on Catalina Island, most of which are overseen by the Catalina Island Conservancy. There’s a vast array of trail running options. Here are are a few recommendations for easy-to-moderate trail runs, featuring decent footing and not too much elevation. This fantastic guide features great information and detailed descriptions.

Trans Catalina Trail. This 38.5 mile trail is often hiked/walked over several days. Variety of terrain, ranging from rugged single track trails to 4×4 jeep roads. The above brochure has description of sections and elevation profiles.

Patrick Reservoir Trail. 1.5 mile loop around several ranching reservoirs.

Two Harbors to Catalina Harbor. Fairly flat 2.2 mile out and back from Two Harbors to Ballast Point along Ballast Point Rd.

Parsons Landing Area. There’s a 1.6 mile loop called the Parsons Landing Trail, accessing a spring. Start at the Parsons Landing Campground.
