For some hilly and scenic running, head to Parque Histórico Nacional dos Guararapes. The park is located in the the Jardim Jordão section in southern Recife, near Recife International Airport. It’s a popular spot for cycling and running, with hilly, forested roads and trails leading to some lovely views. Good shade option on a hit day!
Overall, there are 7-8 km of trails in the park. A popular route is to the Mirante Henrique Dias viewpoint, which is 3-4 km from the parking area. Use either the roads or the Laderia Montes dos Guararapes. At the southern end of the park, there are some nice trails passing the Santuário de Nossa Senhora dos Prazeres (Church of Our Lady of Joy), to the Mirante André Vidal de Negreiros viewpoint. The landscape is mainly shaded, but there are some more open sections near the viewpoints.
