A visit to Aruba is not complete without a visit to Arikok National Park, which covers over 18% of the country’s landscape. These rolling desert hills decorated with cacti, rock formations, and dramatic coastline boast miles of trails, dirt 4×4 tracks, and a 5 km paved road bisecting the park. There is a route here for runners of all stripes, ranging from ambitious trail racers to casual pavement pounders. Be advised: the main road doesn’t have much of a shoulder, but traffic is infrequent and running and biking here are common. Just keep your head up for cars and if you wear headphones, keep them low. See this trail map for more information.
