Hitchcock Woods

In the nearby village of Aiken, South Carolina, Hitchcock Woods is a privately owned urban forest with fantastic running opportunities. Here, you’ll find 2,100 acres of pine forest and more than 70 miles of gentle, sandy trails. Most park entrances are on the north and east side of the preserve, and there are a number of routes to choose from. Highlights include Cathedral Aisle, Blue Ridge Ride, High Point Ride, and Low Country Ride. Note that the Hitchcock Woods are also a popular equestrian area, so take care to yield to horseback riders. The Woods are open daily from sunup to sundown. Admission is free. During the Aiken Hounds hunt season, October 15-March 15, the Woods are closed to non-hunting equestrians and dog walkers on Tuesdays: 1:30-4:30 p.m. and Saturdays: 8:30-11:30 a.m.
