Aurélie Vilmer

Bacalar is a town in southeastern Mexico near the Belize border. It’s on Lake Bacalar, also called the Lagoon of Seven Colors. Friend of Great Runs Aurélie Vilmer has put together a nice 9 km out and back run following the main Costera Rd. There aren’t views of the water, since there are buildings between the road and the water. But there are some interesting things to see: public access to the lagoons, a Fort (Fuerte de San Felipe de Bacalar), a swimming lake, and all sorts of beautiful street art. For a longer run, one can head further south for another 2 km to three different Cenotes.

Nearby: See our lovely waterfront run in Chetumal, located 1/2 hour away!

Essentials
  • Up to 9 km (5.6 miles) out and back
  • 40m (134 Feet out and back)
  • Any point on Costera Rd.

LOVE this race but it is not flat at all. It is actually extremely hilly.
