One can put together a pretty decent ‘runseeing’ tour of Baton Rouge, incorporating the State Capitol, Downtown Greenway, Spanish Town Historic District, and a section of the Riverfront/Levee Path.

Start at the Louisiana Welcome Center between the Capitol and Veteran’ss Park. Do a ~1 mile loop of Veteran’s Memorial Park out to the Governors Mansion, and the Capitol Grounds. Then head east on Spanish Town Rd., as far as I-110, enjoying the tree-lined streets and older homes of the Spanish Town Historic District. Then head south on N 8th St. to the Downtown Greenway, a pleasant median running along North Blvd. Head west on the Greenway, past the Courthouse and the Old Capitol, to Riverfront Plaza, where you can then join the bike path along the river. Our route heads south as far as the Horace Wilkinson Bridge (I-10). Turn around and head north, returning to the Capitol on the bikepath/River Rd.

Add-Ons: Can continue south on the Levee Bike Path for up to 9 miles.
