Features:
Hunting Island State Park is a treat for running in South Carolina. The a 5,000-acre state park is 15 miles from Beaufort, and features a popular beach that attracts some 1 million annual visitors. There are and 10 miles of forested trails, passing by a lagoon. See this trail map for more info.
One highlight is the 1/4 mile Marsh Boardwalk Trail. For a great loop, we recommend combining the Lagoon Trail and Maritime Forest trails, which make for a ~3.5 mile loop. The 4-mile long beach is also fantastic for running — wide and with firm, compact sand except for right at high tide.
There are many other activities in the park, such as fishing and other water related sports.
Notes: Admission fee required. Can be buggy in summer.
