The highlight of running in Beaufort is to create your own run around the residential streets of its historic section. It’s a total treat — these are beautiful streets lined with dripping live oaks and stately older homes. These are some of the prettiest streets in the country. Rather than map a specific route, we recommend you create your own route in the historic section and combine it with the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park. Some suggested sections: Start in the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park. and do the 1.5 mile stretch following the riverfront path. and then continue on Bay St., enjoying views of the water on one side and spectacular homes on the other. As for the residential streets, the section east of Carteret St. is especially beautiful. The historic district is generally east of Ribaut, to the water, and north to the cemetery. You could do 304 miles and not overlap.
Add-Ons: At the end of Depot St., the Spanish Moss Trail continues north or south for several miles (heading south is more scenic). You can also head over the Woods Memorial Bridge, which has a decent sidewalk and great views of the water. The Pigeon Point neighborhood is also pleasant for running.

3-4 miles within historic section, with good add-on options
For those looking for a longer run, this nearly 10-mile route combines two bridges, a moss-canopied bike path, and a section Beaufort's historic area with its gorgeous homes.
The best option for a long off-road run in the Beaufort area. The paved multi-use path has an access point ~1 mile west of Beaufort center, and runs south toward Port Royal and north past the Marine Corps Air Station. Nice canopy and occasional marsh views.
5,000 acre state park on a barrier island located 15 miles east of Beaufort. Lovely beach, and water related activities. Over 10 miles of recently renovated, relatively forested trails and a fantastic beach for running.
