Dayunhe Forest Park (Grand Canal Park)

Google Street View

Fancy a longer run? Head to Dayunhe Forest Park (also called Grand Canal Forest Park), located 15 km east of Beijing. The park is popular for its two pathways, six gardens, and 18 scenic spots. There are paved & unpaved cycling & running paths along both sides of the Beiyunhe River.  It’s ~6 km on each side. The paths are wider & more developed on the west side.

We’ve mapped a route from the Taoliu Scenic Area near the north gate. Head along the west side of the river for 5.6 km to the south end, where there’s a small amusement park. To make a loop, cross to the east side of the river using Wuxing Rd. at the south end. Head north along the east side river paths. You’ll pass the Yuewensu Ancestral Temple at about the mid-way point.

You can also start the run from the parking lot on the west side or the Dongyuan Parking Lot on the east side.

Longer Option: Start in Yunhe Ecological Park and use the Yunhe Ave. bridge to cross over. It’s 3 km from Yunhe Ecological Park to the Taoliu Scenic Area.

Essentials
  • It's ~6 km along either side of the river. Can do longer loops of 15 km or even 20 km including Yunhe Ecological Park
  • One of the parking lots. Can also start at the Taoliu Scenic Area near the north gate.
  • Bus Access. Parking lot on the west side and the Dongyuan Parking Lot on the east side
