Dongdan Park and Ming Dynasty Wall

Southeast Corner Tower. Creative Commons.

In the Forbidden City area, combining a run in Dongdan Park and the Ming Dynasty Wall makes for good standalone run or an add-on to our Beijing ‘Runseeing’ Tour. Combining these two parks is a 5.6 km run, or 7.8 km starting from Changpuhe Park.

From from the west gate of Changpuhe Park, it’s 1 km west through the Oriental Plaza (Marriott, Hyatt), then RIGHT on Dahua Rd. into Dongdan Park. This is a pleasant, small park, with paths making for a ~1 km loop. Exit the park onto Chongnei Ave. and head briefly south to the Ming Dynasty Wall Relics Park, a park with relics of the Ming Dynasty city wall & the Southeast Corner Tower, built in the 1430s. There’s a 1.4 km path through the park.
