Kottenforst

Kottenforst, a large wooded areas located about 10 miles of central Bonn, offers many km of mainly wooded trails for running. There’s a large network of paths following a relatively straight line east-west and north-south through the woods. There’s a mix here — paved/gravel/dirt, wide and easy or slightly more rugged. Kottenforst can be especially magical in autumn or after a snow.

We suggest creating your own route here. A good place to park is Parkplatz Jägerhäuschen, off the main Highway 565. From there, run up to 5 km east, following Weigartsbahn–Communicationsweg (briefly)–Professorwenweg. Venner Allee is another longer east-west path. A good north-south path is the ~3 km Villiper Allee.

Add-On: At the northern end of Kottenforst, there are additional, more rugged trails that head for 2 km between Venner Allee and Wanderparkplatz, and an additional network of trails in that area.
