The paths along the Rhine River are among the best places to run in Bonn. Paths extend for 10+ km on both the east and west banks. The west bank path passes through the center of Bonn, Rheinaue Park, and several key sights, while the east bank is a bit more pastoral and park-like throughout, with some wooded sections. We’ve mapped routes for both the east and west banks, and also created a table with segment distances, which will help for loop options. There are pedestrian paths across the Friedrich-Ebert, Kennedy, and Konrad-Adenaue bridges (Brücke), and three short ferry crossings that are also convenient. Note: No bridges for crossing south of Konrad-Adenaue Bridge.

West Bank. We’ve mapped up to 12.5 km from just north of the Friedrich-Ebert Bridge to the ferry to Königswinter. Mainly paved path, lit, and nice views of the water. Passes right by Bonn Center, Stadtpark, the museum area, World Conference Center. It’s 1.5 km through Rheinaue Park, where there are numerous additional paths. Our map ends at the ferry to Königswinter, but paths continue for several km south.

East Bank. A bit more park-like & pastoral. A mix of great water/Bonn skyline views, and some sections are a bit interior/wooded.

Good Loops: Numerous options, but a popular loop is between the Kennedy Bridge & Konrad-Adenaue Bridge. It’s ~9 km, including the path accessing the bridge. Add on in Rheinaue Park.
