Sac and Fox Trail & Prairie Park Fishery Trail

Google Street View

One of our favorite places to run in Cedar Rapids is the Sac and Fox Trail. Located in the southeastern part of Cedar Rapids, the crushed limestone multi-use path follows Indian Creek and Cedar River for 7 miles. The trail passes through Sac and Fox Trail City Park, the Indian Creek Nature Center, and Indian Creek Park. The landscape is a combination of wetlands, woods, and some open farmland.

Our mapped route starts at the Prairie Park Fishery, where we’ve added a ~2 mile loop around the lake on the Prairie Park Fishery Trail. There are some nice views of the water. Then, head east on the Sac and Fox Trail. It’s 3 miles through Sac and Fox Trail City Park along the Cedar River, mainly wooded. Continue through the Indian Creek Nature Center, alongside Indian Creek, into Indian Creek Park, and then another two miles to the trailhead at E Post Rd.

Add-Ons: Additional trails at the Indian Creek Nature Center.
