This is a lovely run in central Châteauroux combining trails around Parc de Belle-Isle and Chenevieres Ecopark. It includes loops around two small lakes, public gardens, and some sections along the Indre River. For a longer run, combine with our Prairie Saint Gildas (Meadowland) route. Paths are mainly paved.
Start off Rue de l’Indre with a nice exploration of the trails around Jardin Public (Public Garden). There’s a running track at Stade Georges Birer. Just west of the stadium, continue with the 0.8 km loop around the Petit Lac de Belle-Isle. Then head north through Belle Isle Park. A loop of those trails is 1 km, but we run the east side first to then do the 1.4 km loop around the larger Lac de Belle-Isle. There are nice views of the water.
- OPTION: The longer run includes a 3 km loop around Chenevieres Ecopark (which has 4 km of pleasant paths through open & wooded terrain and a short section along the Indre River). Access via a connector path on the east side of the lake.
Then, retrace your steps on the west side Belle-Isle Park path to the start.
- 8 km (5 miles), including the Ecopark. Options for longer & shorter
- Fairly flat
- Rue de l'Indre, near the Public Garden
