Wonderful trail running options in this area. Belmont Manor is a historic estate, which features trails over 85 acres. These trails bridge into the 70 miles of trails at the 16,000 acre Patapsko State Park, which extends for 32 miles along the Patapsko River.

Belmont Manor & Historic Park. Built in 1785, the estate sits on 85 acres and features lovely grounds. There are some easier, more landscaped trails here, which also blend into the Patapsko Trails. Park at the Carriage House and enjoy the trails. Or, from the trailhead at Landing Rd., take the trail east and then run on Belmont Woods Rd. to the Belmont Manor House. Can also combine with Rockburn Branch Park trails.  Note: this is a popular wedding/event venue.

Patapsko Trails. There’s something for all abilities here. The trails designated as ‘multi-use’ are easier, while the ‘hiking trails’ are narrower and have more challenging footing.  The park web site features numerous trail maps and several ‘self-guided’ hikes, over eight recreational areas. An easier and favorite run is the 2.2 mile Grist Mill Trail along the Patapsko River. We also like combining some Patapsko trails with Belmont Manor (below).

Add-On: Rockburn Branch Park is just west of Landing Rd. Patapsko. Easier trail running, with 9 miles of trails and three color-coded loops.
