You can start at the Bee Branch Greenway or downtown around Washington St. It’s ~1 mile to get to the river. The path along the Mississippi is called the Dubuque Jaycees Trail and starts @E 16th St. Run north along the Jaycees Trail for 2 miles. There are good views of the river along this paved trail.
Double back to 16th St., where you can do a 2.2 mile loop around Schmitt Island.
