Running along the Beira Mar is the signature run in Fortaleza. The wide beachfront promenade runs for 3.1 km along Av. Beira Mara and the popular beach. Av. Beira Mar can be combined with the promenade along the Praia de Iracema (Praia=Beach) for a seamless waterfront run of 7-8 km one-way, including jaunts out to several piers. These promenades are a festive scene, with views of the beach & water on one side, and the Fortaleza skyline on the other. Some sections of the promenade are pleasantly palm-lined.

The run along the Praia Futuro promenade is another nice opportunity in Fortaleza for a pleasant waterfront run. A wide sidewalk runs alongside Av. Clóvis Arrais Mai. It's not as well developed as the Beira Mar, and is a bit away from the water in sections. Beach also runnable!
A 3.4 km run on a wide sidewalk on R. Dr. José Roberto Sales & R. Santa Elisa, which run alongside several beaches: Praia Goiabeiras, Praia Bracos, Praia Ostras, & Praia de Leste. Wide open water views.
Cocó Park, the largest natural urban park in Brazil's north/northeast region, is a great place for a green, shaded run on softer trails. The large green space in the eastern part of the city is a conservation area along the Rio Cocó , with ~2.5 km of trails. Great shade option on a hot day!
