John Yarbough Linear Park offers one of the better off-road running opportunities in the Ft. Myers area. The park runs alongside a narrow, north-south canal. A paved multi-use path that runs from Six Mile Cypress Pkwy in the south to Colonial Blvd. in the north. Overall, the distance is ~5 miles, with another 1.5 miles possible south of Cypress Pkwy.
The southern section is more shaded. Much of the trail runs along a canal, and has some pretty sections. There is a longer-term plan to extend this trail further north beyond Colonial Blvd to Hanson Street.
NEW: A new trailhead (with parking, restrooms, picnic pavilions, bike repair) opened in early 2022 at the southern end (Six Mile Cypress Pkwy).
