Fort Myers Beach, on Estero Island, is miles of beach running heaven. The beach is wide, with hard, compact sand – especially from mid to low tide. Great sunsets!
Best access is from the bridge, Rt. 865 crossing over to the island. The area at the intersection of the bridge is called Times Square. From that point, it’s 1 mile to the northern end at Bowditch Point Park, and 5.5 miles to the southern tip of the beach. The total beach run is 7 miles. It can be extended to nearly 10 miles by taking Estero Blvd. to Lovers Key State Park, where there is another 2.5 miles of running on the beach, or 5 miles of bike trails through woods and along the estuary.
