Fortress and Opływ Motławy Canal Run

Creative Commons 4.0: Andrzej Otrębski

Just south of Gdańsk Main City is a nice run along the Opływ Motławy Canal, passing by several 17th-century historic fortresses (Bastion). The are dedicated, mainly brick-surfaced paths along both sides of the canal. The landscape is a mix of open and some wooded sections, with views of the water a good part of the way. The full loop is 7 km.

The west end of the path is at St. Gertrude Bastion. Run along the north side of the lake for 3.5 km, passing Bastion Wilk, Bastion Wyskok, & Bastion Królik. At the end of the path at the 501 Highway, loop around to the south side. Return along the south side for 2.3 km to a pedestrian bridge, crossing back over for the final 1.2 km.
