Waurn Ponds Creek Trail

Wikimedia Commons

Starting at the wide open space of the South Barwon Reserve in South Geelong, this paved, off-road trail follows the Waurn Ponds creek and parkland through the suburbs of Belmont and Grovedale before finishing at the Waurn Ponds Plaza at the intersection of Colac Road and Geelong Ring Road.

Of course the route can be treated as a round trip — if the Waurn Ponds Plaza is the turnaround point, the return leg will be slightly downhill all the way back to the start.

The area is quite exposed, so expect some wind along the journey. Toilet facilities can be found at the start and finish points, along with the Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre.

Essentials
  • 6.6 km (4.1 miles) one-way, or 13.2 km (8.2 miles) RT
  • 35m (115 feet)

  • Car is preferred as parking is plentiful along the route; Bus is also possible
