The port city of Geelong is the second largest city in the state of Victoria and is a one-hour drive from Melbourne. The city is known for its stunning waterfront setting on Port Phillip Bay, the Australian Football League team and manufacturing facility for Ford cars. Geelong is also considered a gateway city, due to its location near the popular surf coast and the Bellarine Peninsula. There’s an excellent variety of running in Geelong, including wonderful trails along the waterfront and Barwon River, plus numerous parks and multi-use paths.
Some of the best places to run in Geelong include the iconic Waterfront path and the picturesque Barwon River Trails. We also love Eastern Park and the Bellarine Rail Trail. For some fantastic trail running, we recommend the Waurn Ponds Creek Trail, and, a bit further away, the You Yangs Regional Park.
Our signature routes are centrally located and can be reached on foot. Geelong does have an extensive bus and train system. The myki card, which is also used for Melbourne public transport, should be used. There is a Park and Ride bus service around central Geelong and eastern gardens which only costs $3 per person per day.
