Great Tallahassee Neighborhoods for Running

Killearn Estates. Google Street View

Tallahassee has some attractive neighborhoods, with tree-shaded streets and nice homes. Here’s our guide to the best Tallahassee neighborhoods for running, which can be done standalone or combined with some of our other routes:

Killearn Estates. Just to the east of Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park & Highway 319. Nice series of windy roads in upscale residential neighborhood. Generally quiet streets, some with sidewalks, others not. A anchor is Shamrock St., which can be done as a 5-mile loop (caution: some sections without sidewalks). ROUTE MAP. If you’d like to add/combine with our Maclay Gardens route, use Kenmare Rd., which runs east of the Gardens for ~1 mile to Shamrock.

Levy Park. Nice residential streets on the west side of Monroe in the Midtown area. Can be combined with our Lake Ella/Midtown route and/or the Betton Hills neighborhood (below).

Betton Hills. Nice residential neighborhood just north of Midtown, between Thomasville Rd. & Centerville Rd. A highlight is taking Trescott Dr. to McCord Park and then the hilltop Harriman Circle Park. Add on as part of our Lake Ella/Midtown route, or the Levy Park neighborhood just west.

SouthWood Neighborhood. In the southern part of the city, this newer neighborhood anchored by the SouthWood Golf Club, east of Capital Circle SE and west of Biltmore Ave. has nice residential streets and the ~2 mile SouthWood Nature Trail around a man-made lake.
