Tivoli and Annandale-0n-Hudson are two villages along the Hudson River, anchored by the bucolic Bard College. Here are some area running recommendations, from Sara Wallock, a recent Bard graduate:
Tivoli Bays to Blithewood. Tivoli Bays is protected land land on the Hudson that features some nice trails and views of the Catskills. Tivoli Bays to Blithewood is a 1.7 mile trail run, starting from the northern end of Bard College and running through the southern section of Tivoli Bays Wildlife Management Area.
Tivoli Bays Wildlife Management Area. Some nice trail running in the Tivoli Bays Wildlife Management Area, with waterfront, wetlands, & inland sections. Can combine with above route to Blithewood. TRAIL MAP
Tivoli to Annandale-on-Hudson. Begin at the center of Tivoli and follow Montgomery Road for 1 mile down to the small sign on the right for the trail. Follow the trail and make a right towards the Hudson at the fork. Eventually, as you approach Bard’s campus, this trail merges with the one behind the campus circulating back to Blithewood. You can connect these if you want. Or you can walk all the way up to campus following Cruger Road. It’s 2.7 miles one-way. For a longer run, see our Bard College route or enjoy additional trails in Tivoli Bays.
Tivoli to Hudson River. Do as standalone or in combination with the above routes, this is a 1.6 mile out and back from the center of Tivoli to the train tracks along the river, following Rt.78/Broadway. It’s downhill to the river and uphill back.
Bard College Campus. Incorporate the lovely paths and trails around this bucolic campus. See route here.
