LeFleur’s Bluff State Park & Eastover Neighborhood

Creative Commons: Geoff Alexander

In the northern part of Jackson, LeFleur’s Bluff State Park is a lush green spot for a run. The 305-acre state park features a golf course and 3-4 miles of sandy trail, gravel trail, road, and boardwalks leading up to the back of the Natural Science Museum. At the northern end of the park is Mayes Lake.

For running, the best bet is the ~2.5 mile Nature Trail, which parallels the Pearl River and winds in and around cypress swamps. Start at Lakeland Terrace, and run along the western edge of Mayes Lake, then parallel the Pearl River toward the Children’s Museum.

Longer Run: A couple of options. Just west of the park, use Riverside Dr. to explore the Bellhaven neighborhood. And north of the park, explore the windy, leafy streets of the Eastover neighborhood, where there are some of Jackson’s nicest homes.

Essentials
  • Nature trails are ~2.5 miles (3.8 km)
  • Nature trail route is ~85 feet
  • Near Gate House
  • Parking lot near Gate House
