One of the better places to run in Lilongwe is in Capital Hill area. It’s in Areas 14 & 20, east of the M1 and between Chayamba Drive and Presidential Way. The area is home to numerous embassies, Parliament & government buildings, the World War I Memorial, Botanical Gardens, and a Conference Center.

For running, we’ve mapped a 9.5 km route in the area to use as a guideline for creating your own route. There are three ‘segments’: the ~3 km loop on Capital Hill Circle; the wide road that runs for 2 km between Chayamba Drive and Presidential Way, which features a decent sidewalk and includes the WW I Memorial plaza; and wide paths around the Conference Center.
