Norfolk is one of the prettier small villages in the Litchfield Hills. There’s not necessarily a lot to do in this town 25 minutes northwest of Torrington, but tourists love to incorporate Norfolk on scenic drives for its lovely town green, elegant homes, and quiet streets which evoke something of a Gilmore Girls vibe. For a fun little tour of the town, start out at the southernmost “point” of the triangular village green, head northeast on Village Green, which becomes Maple Ave, and follow Maple Ave up to the intersection with Shepard Road. Turn LEFT, then enjoy a rolling downhill until you reach Route 44. Cross Route 44 to the north, turn LEFT onto Westside Road, then use Mountain Road to return to the starting line.

Longer Run: There are some quieter side roads in the area. You can take Laurel Way, which is a continuation of Shepard Rd., or do a longer stretch on Westside Rd. Avoid Rt. 272, which doesn’t have much of a shoulder.
