G Da

Andros is the northernmost island of the Greek Cyclades archipelago. It’s a rugged, mountainous island, with scenic beaches tucked below the hillside. The island is 40 km long and 16 km wide at its widest point. Andros is known mainly as a hiking destination, and is fantastic for trail running. For our guide to running on Andros, we’ve researched some of the best options for gentler waterfront running, and some recommended spots in the interior’s extensive network of quiet roads and trails. If you’d like to have an in-person guided running experience in Andros, we highly recommend our friends at Go! Running Tours.

Some of the best places to run on Andros are scenic waterfront roads along the Aegean — in the towns of Andros, Mpatsi (Batsi), Gavrio, &. For some scenic running in the interior, we point to several options, including hillsides above several popular beaches, plus the extensive network of quiet roads and trails in Katafigio park just north of Andros town and Oros Charaka Park.

Runners should note that the interior is hilly and offers little shade. Plan for exposed terrain, sun, and heat!
