Andros Hillside & Trail Running Options

Above Fellos Beach. Google Street View

Those who hills and views will find extensive options in Andros’ interior. There’s a good network of quiet roads and paths, passing farms, vineyards, olive groves, and architectural ruins. Note this is hilly and exposed running. There are so many options it’s difficult to map out specific routes. Rather, here are some of our favorite areas to create your own route:  Note: Exposed, very little shade– use caution in heat!

Near Andros (Chora) Town. Run the hillside around Steines — very scenic.

Katafigio Agrias Zois Stenies. Large park/preserve north of Andros town with large network of quiet roads and trails.

Oros Charaka. This is a large park and preserve on the western part of the island. For a scenic run with great water views, run the dirt road between Fellos Beach and Kourtali Beach, and continue south. Or head further into the hilly interior for more trail running on the network of dirt roads, paths, and trails. North end: look for Φελλός Άνδρου on Google maps. Just above Kourtali Beach, look for the Χάρακας Άνδρου hiking area.

South of Kipri: Some quiet dirt roads/paths leading up into the hillside to the Moni Zoodochou Pigis monastery.

Above Zorkos Beach. On the northern part of the island, large network of roads and paths above this scenic beach.

Northwestern Part of the Island. Scenic roads and paths on the hillside in the area between Pisolimnionas Beach (Paralia) and Pirgos Beach.

Near Palaeopolis. Just south of the ancient capital on the western side of the island, there’s some scneic, hilly running in Kolympos-Zaganiari Park. The road between Chalkolimnionas Beach and the Αποθήκες Beach Bar runs for nearly 2 km and is a good bet.
