Châteauroux, France

Châteauroux is the capital city of the French department of Indre, central France and the second-largest town in the province of Berry, after Bourges. There’s some pleasant running in Châteauroux, anchored around the large green space and linear park off the River Indre, which runs just north of the city’s historic centre.

We’ve mapped two scenic routes in the center of Châteauroux, which can be combined. An 8 km route includes Parc de Belle-Isle, public gardens, loops around two small lakes, and the Chenevieres Ecopark. Adjacent to that is our route focused on the Prairie Saint Gildas (meadowland), with open trails along the River Indre and around scenic wetlands. Another great place to run in Châteauroux is the many km of wooded trails in the Châteauroux Forest, located 10 km south of the city.
